2 Questions:

1. When I set up a new blank ruels it seems to default to "applies to this
machine only" - to get rid of it I have to use advanced & deselect that
option.
1. I have set up a rule to permenently delet mail which includes
"(e-mail address removed)" which I beleive to be a con based email" -
occaissionally with this rule applied I get a message saying that there is an
error in this rule - it feels as though an email is coming in from
(e-mail address removed) & changing the rule - has anyone experienced (&
Solved) this probl3m?

The answer depends on your configuration which you did not post. Some mail
rules actions can only be performed locally so that is why "on this machine
only" is added to the rule.

Emails cannot change rules.

Thank you.

is there any way I can work aound the Local machine only as it causes
problems when i backup & use Outlook imported to my laptop for travelling - i
have to re do all the rules after importing to my laptop .
The other question re (e-mail address removed) & changing the rule seems
only to occur with this particular rule.

You still haven't posted any configuration info but transferring your rules
like this is not possible. If you still want to go this way make sure you
export your rules before importing anything on your laptop/desktop. After it
you can import your backed up rules again.
