A prior rule is acting on the message and no additional rules are able to
act on that message. You can drag rules to a higher position, but MLM and
JMF will always run before rules if either one is enabled.

Actions which Move messages or run AppleScripts cannot be followed by other
rules.

If mail category is getting reset, check rules above. The "default" action
for every new rule is "Set category to None". If you don't switch that popup
but just add other actions, it's going to turn "category" status off.
Check your Criteria. You might want to select "if any criteria are met"

Sometimes rules can become corrupt. These are sometimes the hardest to find.
When you do identify the corrupt rule(s), delete the rule and make a new
one.

I have PowerBook 15" and iMac 20" which all run with Entourage 11.2.1 on OSX
10.4.4 and 10.4.3 respectively.

Same rule was run to change character set when receiving mail from a
particular account.

It is so strange that the Entourage in PB achieved expected result but not
that in iMac. The rule in iMac was run. I could see that message from the
particular account was set to the character set I wanted. However, the
message did not display correctly. Instead, I changed it manually and it
displayed correctly.

My question is "same rule, same version of Entourage, same account but a bit
different OS version" achieves differently.

Is there anything wrong? Or is there anything I need to check?

Thanks,

Charles

I only have 1 rule. It doesn't work, unless I "apply rule" that specific
rule. It does not work automatically or with "apply rule - all rules".

I deleted the rule, recreated it, check for corruption etc... Nothing
worked.

Anything else "we" can try?

Rules run after the Mailing List Manager and the Junk Mail Filter - is there
anything in either of those that is intercepting the message before it gets
to your rule?

YES ! ! ! Thank You !!

In the edit mailing list rule window, on the advanced tab, "DO NOT APPLY
RULES TO LIST MESSAGES" is checked by default.

Many thanks...
