You might have accidentally created a Mailing List Manager rule that is
moving your mail.

There are 3 different kind of rules in Entourage:

Mailing List Manager (MLM)
Junk Mail Filter
Rules (custom rules you create)

They run in the order listed above. The custom rules also run in the order
they are listed. (top runs first)

1) POP Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the Inbox (On My
Computer), NOT when it arrives in any other folder. Once it's moved to
another folder it won't be seen by rules.

2) IMAP Rules are meant to act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in
the IMAP INBOX, not when moved to another IMAP folder.

3) Exchange Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the
Exchange Inbox.

See "Using Rules with Entourage" for help and examples:

thank you
I have reinstalled office and thrown out all rules and still it will
not sort the 10 I have. When I highlight one message and apply the
rule for it it does work for that incident. I have tried the disabling
all, checking category to none, selected "any criteria, have checked
the MLM and there is nothing in it: I am mystified

Once a rule has run, further rules will not run on those messages. Give us
an example of your rules so we can see what might be the cause. Start with
the top rule.

Did you check the main point Diane raised?

Under the 'tools' menu, select 'mailing ist manager' - are there any entries
in there? If there are, delete them and then see if your rules work.

MLM entries are all too easy to create accidentally - see here for the
details:

That probably means one of the other rules above the rule that works has
the "Do not apply other rules to messages that meet these criteria".

All are If any Recipient Contains any of the <insert email> Execute
If any Criteria are Met Then
Move Message and I have either selected a folder in my inbox or Delete
Do Not Apply to other Rules that meet this Criteria is Checked on
every one but grayed out so I cannot uncheck.
I have nothing in my MLM
thank you

Check your Criteria. You might want to select "if all criteria are met"

You could try using categories rather than individual addresses. Less chance
for error.

If you take screenshots of your rules or individually write out them out for
us to check we might be able to see the problem. Otherwise we're just
guessing.

Please do not change the subject. I use the subject in a rule so the email
does not get lost in my Junk folder.

Hi - I'm not sure if this will work for you, but I discovered that the rules
have to be in a certain order since the "Do not apply rules..." checkbox is
grayed out.

I had rules for messages coming in from specific people to go to specific
folders set too low. Make sure those go to the top.

I hope that works for you.
