rules error when deleting a domain

I have a rule that is intended to move everything from
yahoo.com (username is not specified) into the deleted
items folder. It only succeeds partially. The targeted
email is copied into the deleted items folder, but the
original remains in the inbox and I get an error message
as follows:

rule error
yahoo cannot remove messages from the folder

Rules that specify user and domain names work fine.
