Rules in Entourage 2004

Cody Bryan III

Hello,

I have set up Entourage and have been using Rules to organize my e-mail into
Categories. This worked up until recently, and now it is not. I get e-mails
for one category set for another. Example: I have a Union category, but
e-mail for that will come in a newsletter category. I read somewhere how to
fix this, but am unable to find the answer again. Does anyone have any
suggestions other than trashing all of my Rules, and starting over. Thank
you for your efforts.

Sincerely,
Cody

It's possible you set a Mailing List Manager (MLM) rule that is causing the
problem. It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by accident, when you are
marking a message as 'not junk' - the wording of that dialog is ambiguous to
say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look for MLM entries under
the tools menu) with the local inbox as the target folder. If there is,
delete it and all should be back to normal.

MLM rules are a great addition to regular Rules. Use the MLM for your lists
and save Rules for our other mail. BTW, MLM rules run before
regular rules.
