Rules not working correctly in Outlook 2003

Hi there.

I have a problem with some machines that run Outlook 2003
against an Exchange 2000 server. Some of my users had
previously installed Outlook XP on their machines and set
up rules to move mail that fit a certain criteria to a
folder under their inbox on the Exchange server. The
rules worked fine until the users upgraded to Outlook
2003. After that, the rules would not move the mail that
fit the criteria. I added a 'new item of interest'
notification to the rules so I could tell if the rule was
not being seen or if it was just the moving of messages
that wasn't working. Upon receipt of a message that
should fire the rule, the new item notification I created
pops up but the message doesn't get moved. Deleting and
recreating the rules in Outlook 2003 doesn't help either.

Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone have any
suggestions?

Does it work after you cleared the Deleted Items folder?

No, it doesn't work after you clear the deleted items
folder, however in some cases it works if you manually
force the rules to be run.

And you don't have rules configured to automatically forwar/reply either?
If so take a look here;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/automaticreply.htm

Does it work when all other rules are disabled?
Also try it with adding the action; stop processing more rules added to the
rule that moves the message.

Otherwise clean all the rules from the mailbox by starting Outlook with the
/cleanrules command line switch
