Rules not working properly

Anyone else experience Entourage 2008 problems with Rules simply being ignored?

The Rule has worked fine in 2004 and I've even placed it at the very top of the Rules listing. And it works when I manually select "Apply Rule XYZ" - it just won't work automatically.

It's happening with a handful of rules and I can't understand it.

Greetings,

Double-check that you don¹t have the same criteria for multiple rules. By
default the rules engine processes each rule in order, and when you create a
new rule, by default an option is enabled to ignore other rules that match
the same criteria. That may be happening in your case.

Same problem here. Have a bunch of rules which worked fine in 2004, in
2008 they work manually only. Crap!

Same problem here. Not sure, but I think I have a fix. Though it's kind of tedious. I noticed that rules do seem to work if I've edited them. I.e. opened up the rule list, opened up a particular rule, changed something/anything, closed the rule list, then applied the rule to selected mails. From what I've tried, all you need to do is e.g. click on and off the "enabled" button, then click "ok"

I have a giant sticky spiderweb of rules I've accumulated over the years - it's one of the things that has kept me on Entourage since AFAIK I can't easily export the rules to Apple Mail. So it took me a while to click through them all. But as far as I can tell rules now work for me, both on new incoming mail and mail I'd already received but failed to filter through my rules properly.

Hope it works for you (and keeps working for me)!
