Rules wizard doesn't work

I'm using Outlook 2002 (XP) on windows 2000
No exchange server. Get my mail directly from a pop3 internet mail server.

The mail rules used to work fine, but suddenly they stopped working.
I have deleted them all and tried anew
No luck.
Can someone point me in the right direction ???
