Same problem! SP3 Outlook error message "The program is trying to access etc"

I have the same problem! I recently downloaded the SP3
for Office 2002, and since then have had problems with
the email security feature of Outlook. Now, whether I am
creating a new email or responding to a received email, I
get a flag-screen telling me that a program is trying to
access email addresses stored in Outlook and asking me if
that's what I want.

I've had the same problem. I disabled Word as the email editor and it fixes the problem. Is this the final answer or is there something else I need to do?

On the link supplied, there is this section...

To prevent the PDFMaker COM Addin from loading, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\PDFMOutlook.PDFM
Outlook and change the LoadBehavior value from 3 to 2. Restart Outlook. The
PDF functions will still be available in Word and the other Office programs

Making this change should allow you to re-enable Word as your editor if you
just can't live w/out it. If you can live w/out Word as your editor, then
yep your done since i am not aware of any fixes by Adobe.

When I looked at the com add-ins, I didn't see PDFMOutlook, even though I have Adobe Acrobat installed. When I went to add in manager, I saw a lot of my McAfee programs, Spamkiller, VirusScan. Could these be the problem?

If you have disabled Word and the error message stops and you don't have the
PDFMOutlook key, then I wouldn't think any of the items you listed would be
the problem. (the error would have continued after disabling Word as the
editor.)

What kind of addins do you have installed for Word? (Try Tools | Templates
and Addins or Tools | COM Addins. Note: COM Addins might be missing. You
might have to add it by customizing you menu/toolbar by right clicking on a
menu/toolbar and select customize. The commands tab is where you can select
Tools from the category and then drag the option from the right up to a
menu/toolbar.)
