Save a preview version ??

Steve Ralsten

I'm (obviously) a first time designer and doing a website
for a group. I'm nearly done with 12 pages or so. I would
like to be able to save the pages to a format I can email
the other members for proofreading and suggestions BEFORE
publishing the site. I've tried sending the .htm files
along with needed gif files so they can look in their own
browser, but theme material doesn't come across. Is there
anyway to do a snapshot jpg that gets the entire page ?

One more question...

Is it easy to publish the site, let the insiders look,
then delete the entire site while I work on changes ?

Thanks

If the site is hosted on a web server that has the FP extensions, then open
the live site in FP, create a folder, right click on this folder, select
convert to web. If this work, then open your local copy in FP, and publish
to http://www.domainname.com/subwebname then give the other this URL to
review the site.

Make sure IE is the active window, then press Alt+PrtSc.
Then, paste into your picture editor, or Outlook, or
whatever.

Alternatively:
1. Display the page in IE.
2. Choose Save As from teh File menu.
3. Choose a Save As Type of Web Archive, Single File
(*.mht).
4. Click OK.
5. Mail the .mht file.

Better yet, publish the Web site to a test location the
other members can access, then mail them the home page URL.

Yes. To delete an entire site, select everything in the
Folder list or Folders view, then press Delete.

Now, read my lips: There Is No Undo!

You can publish it to a folder, zip the folder and then e-mail it.

If your using a standard internet connection, ( not using a NAT router )
you can also load the site in a server program and let
them view it right from your machine.
Check out the free SimpleServer from AnalogX
I've used it to let clients preview webs. Items requiring
FrontPage extensions won't work though.
Launch Simple server, and then e-mail the IP address it
shows you in http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx format to your group.
When they click on the link the web will open.
( SimpleServer will need firewall permission )
