Save as... does not save anything

A user reported a strange problem with Word 2003.
She used the "save as..." command on a document being edited, but
nothing was actually saved. There wasn't any trace of the new file,
neither in the original folder, nor in the default, recovery, temp,
trashcan or whatever other folder on the local PC.

Did any body hear about such a bug in Word 2003 ?

Thank you,
Lurka

Sort of like mapping a drive to the nul: device... :)

I had similar problems on a Novell NetWare network drive (using Office
'97). No saved file, no error messages.

It turned out the user had been deleted and manually added again. The
home directory was not deleted and recreated in the process, so when the
user was created again, it no longer owned the home directory.

Due to the "failsafe" way MS office saves documents, strange things can
happen when access rights are lacking.
