Saving all inbox and sent folder message from desktop to laptop

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Hi. This is my first question to the forum. I apologize if this seems like a silly question, but here's my situation...

I work on a Mac desktop in London and am returning back to the States for a few weeks. I'd like to have access to all of the emails I've sent and received from my mac account for the last year so that I can open and work with it from my other desktop in the US. I have a Lacie drive I can transfer all of the data onto (if that's a workable option).

So, here are my questions:

- Assuming it's possible, what's the procedure for transferring all of the emails I've sent and received onto my Lacie drive (and for accessing them when I'm on a different desktop back in the States)?
- Is there another option you'd recommend if the 'Lacie' option doesn't work?

Gratefully yours,

Todd

Btw, I just tried exporting all of my emails and was able to save them onto folder onto my external disk drive (ref to as Lacie in my previous post). When I plug that drive into my laptop and import the files and Entourage launches, I can see all of the inbox messages from my desktop, but when I look in my sent folder on my laptop, I don't see any of the sent items from my desktop.

I'm experimenting here while I wait for some thought from y'all, but what I just did doesn't seem to working well enough...or I'm (probably!) the problem!

Thanks!!!

Your messages are stored in the Database file that you'll find buried in
your home folder here:

~/Documents/Microsoft User Data

Entourage *must* find its Microsoft User Data (MUD) folder here,
however, you should be able to copy that folder to your drive and then
replace it in your Documents folder with an alias to the folder on your
drive.

To make the alias, just hold down the Option and Command keys while you
drag the MUD from your external drive to your Documents folder.

Keep in mind that this means you'll have to be using the same version of
Office 2008 and Entourage on the computer you use in the States.
Otherwise, it will be useless to you.

When you return home, replace the MUD on your desktop with the MUD on
your external drive, which will have the newer mail messages.

Hope this helps!

Bill's solution is a good one. There's another way of doing this. You
could, from your London computer, assuming you're still there (I wish
I was), export (file export) just your email as an rge file.

Then on your other computer in the states just go into Entourage and
file import the rge file (probably called main identity rge unless you
renamed it) and import it. If you want create a new identity just for
this if you don't want these emails blended into your active identity
in the states. You can import these emails to the new file and switch
between the two identities.
