Saving an Attachment after making edits back to the Entourage Message

Is it possible to edit an attachment (an EXCEL file, for example) and
then save that file after the edits have been made back to the original
Entourage Message?

No, not back to the message, as the message is the original source as
received. When you open an attachment, a copy is saved in
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Saved Attachments. If you hit the 'save'
button in the application that opened your attachment, the document will be
permanently saved in this folder. You can do a 'save as' to save elsewhere.
