Saving contact information

What is the easiest and simplest way to save a contact after you enter it?
Does it happen automatically or must you push command-s?

Nothing is saved automatically but if you try to close a contact
without saving it you'll be prompted to save. You can also add a Save
button to the toolbar if there's not one already.
