Saving contacts

Janne Wallin

After having imported contacts from Apple AddressBook to Entourage 2004, all
contacts appeared as not saved. In other words, when I open a contact the
icon for 'save' is highlighted and not grey. If I try to synchronize with my
mobile, Entourage contacts will not accept changes made on my mobile before
I have saved respective contact. The problem is that I have more than 500
contacts and I would like to have all of them marked 'saved' in one move and
not open each and everyone and save them individually.
Please advise.

It should only show to save if you have added something. Perhaps the fact
that a change was made by your mobile is causing you to save, but then
again, no one else has mentioned this.

Not sure exactly what is going on here. I'm thinking you should check your
preferences to be sure you have the correct permission to write to that
folder. If this is not the problem, then an AppleScript could write them all
to save ....at least I think that is possible. Let me know what you see on
permissions.

Attention: Diane Ross
Main Identity permission was Read Write for all. I changed permissions
according to your suggestion. Still, when opening any contact, it appears as
it needs to be saved. How do I write an Apple Script that saves all the
contacts?

Try this...export your contacts as Entourage archive file. Drag the file to
Shared. Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch
to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Open Entourage
and it will create a new Identity. Import your contacts from shared. What
happens there?

You are trying to send to my nospam address. :)

I am overwhelmed with requests for private help right now. Even though I
would like to have the time to support everyone that asks, there are just so
many hours in the day. Offering free support for everyone is just not
possible.

Exporting to an Entourage archive and then importing the archive to the same
Identity/User solved the problem! Thanks!
/Janne
PS
The archive file did not show in Shared folder in the New User!???

Did you move it from Shared to the new User Documents folder?
