thanks muchly!
however this did not work - it is not that i can't pick up names in teh
contact list - i cannot save email addresses from messages by right clicking
and when i reply to a message - of a contact not in my contact list/address
book it does not pick up the address - even when i am replying to their
message...

hope this makes sense?
thanks again

Most likely you failed to install and configure the Outlook Address Book
correctly.

Doesn't matter. Both require the address book service to function. Clarify
how you configured your data file and the address book service in this new
profile.
