Is it possible to save ppt presentations as individual image files with a
resolution of 600 dpi or greater?

Yes, with either a 3rd party add-in or the following:
1. You can adjust page size to be much larger so native PPT to image file at
72dpi can be adjusted in external image editor (ie PhotoShop). But this
means adjusting all elements on slide...
2. pptXtreme makes an import/export tool that allows you to specify the size
of the image created (http://pptxtreme.com/import_export.asp)
3. pptools makes an image exporter that also allows you to set the size
(http://www.rdpslides.com/pptools/FAQ00005.htm)

I own and use both of the add-ins and while each has its own strengths, They
will equally well help you accomplish what is needed.
