This is a strange issue, but after we ran Windows update on 2/9/2005 and got
all 10 new critical updates for XP, our Office programs are acting odd. Excel
and Word will not allow us to save files onto our network drive... it gives
an error that the "directory not found, or invalid filename" as though the
drive was password protected. The strange part is that if you save the file
to a local drive and then save that file to the network, it works fine.
Obviously, something changed in the last round of these Windows updates
that's messing with this function of Office. FYI our "network" drive is
really just a shared harddrive on a Win98 machine over a peer-to-peer
network. Anyone else have this issue, or know of a solution short of
uninstalling the updates?
