saving new contact & address in the contact list

I am having troulble saving new contact (name etc) in my contact list. I
follow the steps required however for some reason it doesn't save.

information with your post. You provided none.
The minimum would be:
1. Outlook version and mail account type
2. Precise steps you are using, including the view
3. What happens
4. What doesn't happen that you think should.
