scrambled message, readable when replying

I'm using entourage 11.0.0 on a mac os X 10.2.8

I get messages once in a while where the text is all scrambled. If I
reply to the message I can read the message fine.

I've tried rebuiling the database and compressing. I also tried to
change the format for the font display.

Any ideas?

What do you see if you choose View > Source?

It's possible there's something wrong with the HTML portion of the message.
When you reply, you may have Entourage configured to send plain text, so
you're seeing the plain text portion.
