Installing the Q824145 security patch causes the following problem in Outlook, Outlook Express and Internet Explorer:
When you click in the blank area of the scroll bar, the viewing area moves up or down by two screens of text-- instead of by one, as it always used to do. The only exception is if you click _immediately_ below or above the grey section of the scroll bar, in which case you get a one-screen shift as in the past.
There has been a lot of discussion about this in the Internet Explorer discussion group, but my question about the same problem in Outlook, in this discussion group, has gone unanswered. So here's another request for information:
1) Is Microsoft aware of this problem in Outlook, and do they intend to fix it? [According to posts by MVPs in the IE6 discussion group, such a patch is being written for the same problem in IE6. As of mid-November it was promised "soon", but still has not been released.]
If anyone knows a way that I can ask Microsoft this question directly, please tell me.
2) If a fix for Outlook is on the way (and I sure hope so; this bug is _really_ annoying in reading long e-mails and in the long run could get me to quit using Outlook), when can we expect it to be released?
A bigger and related question: why doesn't MS have a central place where there is public acknowlegement of such problems & progress reports on fixing them? Or does this exist, & I just don't know about it?
many thanks for any answers,
