Search & delete functions in Address Book no longer work

The search and delete functions in my Entourage Address Book have recently stopped working; they're working fine in Mail. I've run the disk utility, rebooted the computer, closed & reopened the application, and still this just doesn't work. Please advise how to restore asap!

Is this the top search box in the Address Book and not the smaller find box
below?

Troubleshoot Sync Services: reset sync services and start fresh

Please advise how to restore asap!
