search, match and replace, link to another sheet

Hi I have a big problem! I spent 2 months putting
together a database and somehow one of my columns has
shifted. I have an old database to relate to but the
information is not in the same order as mine. New db has
the bad column in it. What I need to do is look up a
column in the new db(A), match the individual cells to
cells in the old db(B), and once found grab the info from
the cell next to (B), which I will call (C) for now, and
replace the value in the field next to (A) where the
search originated, we'll call that (D). The database has
2555 entries in it that need rectifying and I'm sure there
must be an easier way than just find, cut, past for each
entry. Please help, my reference for a new job relies on
this!
