Searching Entourage X -REPOST

Im using Entourage X v1.

I'm looking for tips to search my email database. I subscribe to
several lists. Searching returns too many responses. Using quotes to
search for exact phrases returns zero results. Using another method
most often finds too many matches.

Any recommendations on better ways of searching in group emails--even
non-Entourage?

First step is probably to use subfolders to organise you mail a little
better, such that you can then search specific folders, rather than
everything. In the mailing list manager you can arrange for all the messages
from a specific list to go to a particular folder. Set up a folder for each
mailing list.

Then, in either the 'advanced find' window, or using custom views, you can
assign more than one search criteria, so you can have 'contains "Barry"' and
'contains "margaret"'. There are (almost) unlimited criteria available.

Did that.

Hardly. Without string search, every instance of each individual word
is found. If I want just messages with "barry kissed margaret", I get
every email with barry, margaret, kissed, kissed barry, kissed
margaret, barry margaret, AND barry kissed margaret. Nowhere as
effective as a string search.
Not an actual BUG in the traditional sense, but it sure bugs me.
