searching for a group in the contacts list

Is there anyway to search for a group that¹s been created in the Contact
List? Using the Search field doesn¹t work as the Group¹s name doesn¹t show
up when you run a name search. Right now, the only way I have to update a
group is to open a new message, enter the address, and then double-click on
it to open the Contact listing for that group. It works but it¹s annoying.

Thanks,

Chris

What version of Entourage are you running? When I search for a group's name
in the name search in E 2004, it shows up fine.

If you name your groups like this ³Group: Soccer² , ³Group: Christmas Card
List², ³Group: Family², then all your groups will sort together.

I also highly advise you to have each contact in your group listed in the
Address Book. Assign the category of the group name to each entry.

Groups are difficult to export. Assigning a category to each contact makes
exporting easier. Recovery is much easier too.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, I forgot to specify Entourage 2008. As for searching, thanks for
the suggestion, Diane. I¹ll add ³Group² to the title of each group. I
already use categories for all contacts and all contacts in the groups are
already in the address book by themselves. It just seems odd that there¹s no
easy way to identify a ³group² vs. an individual.

Seems you used to be able to do this, and it I have vague memories of you
being able to add a group to the folder window. Just checked in Entourage X
and you there was a custom view for groups, but I couldn't drag a group to
the folder window in the Address Book view. You can create a custom search
in Entourage 2008 and use Name contains "group." There is no criteria
"group" in Entourage 2008.

I don't know if this was an oversight or they ran out of time. Besides new
features, the last version had a lot of under the hood code changes.
