searching linked documents

Is there a way to have OneNote search the contents of linked documents or
linked web pages so that I do not have to import the whole thing in order to
text search their contents?

Nothing in OneNote, but the search capabilities built into Windows are pretty
good. You can search inside of files for specific terms. You will want the
Indexing Service enabled and started for better results (this can be
configured from the Find screen in Explorer).

This feature also searches for text strings inside of OneNote files.
