second request - help mapping virtual directories

Hi folks,

I posted a request for help last Saturday and got no
responses. I'm feeling rejected :-(

My request might be off topic but, if it is, will someone
please recommend a newsgroup that would be more
appropriate. If you can't give me a specific answer, can
you direct me to some resourses that might help?

Thank you.

Below is the context of my original message.

Hi folks,

I'm administering a client's FP site on his NT4.0 server
with FrontPage2000.

I'm trying to create a URL that will map to a different
directory on his machine. i.e. I would like to map the
address http://www. clientsite.com/clientprojects so it
will look for files on the local drive at
C:\inetpub\wwwroot\test

Using Internet Service Manager, I double clicked on WWW
to open the WWW Service Properties Window. After clicking
the Directories tab, I "add"ed a directory
called 'clientprojects'. I selected 'virtual directory'
and typed in the path C:\inetpub\wwwroot\test.

But, when I type the URL
http://www.clientsite.com/clientprojects into my browser
I get a '403 Access Forbidden' error message or, when
I 'allow directory browsing' in Internet Service Manager,
I get the contents of the real 'clientprojects' folder
and not the 'test' folder to which I'm trying to map this
request.

I'm not sure if this is a FP issue or a NT4.0 server
issue or if I'm even going about this the right way but,
I will appreciate any clues you may be willing to offer.

Thank you,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Have you changed the permission on c:\inetpub\wwwroot\test so access is allowed?
