Section Bar Height?

I'm not sure exactly what to call it, but a specific part of the UI is annoying me. Depending on how I arrange my emails, they are split up into different sections underneath what I'm going to call "Section Bars". For example, if I sort by Date, these bars say things like "Today" and "Tomorrow".

These bars are about 3 times as tall as they need to be. When I look at my Inbox in Conversation view (which I usually like in Outlook) I can hardly see 6 emails on one screen.

Is there anyway to reduce the height of this UI element without lowering the font size of all lists?

No. Have you considered just turning off the grouping? View > Arrange By >
Show in Groups.
