Security: logon & logonvalidation

I'm trying to create a secure Internet site (using
FrontPage 2000) containing a multi-page pictorial
directory. To set up usernames & passwords I'm trying to
following the examples at:

http://www.frontpagehowto.com/newpassword/default.asp#logon
validation

When I go to the "logon.asp" page and enter a username and
password the "logonvalidation.asp" appears...but on the
screen is the html code. FYI, I haven't uploaded this to
the server. The web is currently residing on my desktop
which does not have FrontPage drivers installed.

Any ideas on where I should go from here?
PS..this is my first attempt at securing a site.

I emailed Webs Unlimited last week seeking product advice
and have yet to receive a reply. If they won't respond to
a sales oriented query, I'll have NO luck when I need tech
support; and I'm sure I'll need support. Security is new
to me.

Hi jonereb,

Sorry but we never got your email that I'm aware of. There are no
guarantees that email will reach its destination and this was especially
true over the last couple of weeks with the email blaster worms that have
been causing havoc to email servers.

I know that we have had an increase in the number of persons writing to us
saying that they had written and never received a response. Even in this NG
I've seen several complaints about returned email that has been used to spam
using the individuals email address. Again, caused by the blaster worms.

We'll be happy to answer any an all of your questions.
