Selecting messages in list crashes Entourage

Selecting items in a folder's message list - sometimes single ones,
and sometimes multiple ones - causes Entourage to crash. I am running
Mac OS X 10.2.8, and I use Entourage 10.1.4 SR 1 with a few POP and a
few IMAP accounts (no Exchange server).

It seems to happen most often on locally stored subfolders - certain
ones in particular. I have deleted and re-created the offending
folders but it doesn't help. I have rebuilt the user database and
cache several times - any other suggestions?

Do a database rebuild (hold down Option key when launching Entourage). A
Typical rebuild should fix this - if not, follow with an Advanced.

This has not helped the problem. I did figure out how to remove
office completely and install from scratch. I am back up to the
10.1.4 version of Entourage X.

Observation has led me to see more of a pattern with this problem. It
occurs when the message being selected or displayed has content or
synchronization data that must be fetched remotely in order to select
or display it.

For example, POP messages on accounts where I have elected to "leave a
copy of messages on the server" - selecting these in the message lists
causes a crash.

Also likely to crash Entourage are html message bodies which have
hosted (non-embedded) images which must be fetched in order to render
the message. Apple's "iTunes New Music Tuesdays" messages, for
example - always crash Entourage.

Rebuilding the database - either Typical or Advanced - does not fix
the problem.

It coincided with my upgrade to Mac OS 10.2.8, I think. Entourage and
MS Internet Explorer are the only applications that have been
destabilized by this upgrade.

Any ideas??

I'm having the same problem. I thought it had something to do with a
software upgrade though I wasn't sure which one. My biggest problem
has become sending emails. They've slowed to crawl taking up to 10
minutes to send less than 1Mb of attached information. Today I started
having crashes.

I spent over two minutes waiting for an empty "test" email I sent to
myself to go!

I've verified and fixed permissions and rebuilt my database three
times....any other suggestions?
