Self-Signing Certificates and Entourage 2004

We have successfully installed a self-signing cert that works with OWA and
Outlook for Windows, but Entourage 2004 won't accept it. Any hints?

I'm no authority in certificates, but I just installed a digital certificate
from Verisign. Would this be the same thing?

I have it set up to sign on all outgoing messages from that account.
