send email from webpage links stopped working

Entourage 2004 suddenly stopped being able to respond to the mailto links
on websites. I can only think of a few things that I did that may have
affected this - security update, and I deleted my foreign fonts.

I am running 10.3.5, I deleted the plist, I rebuilt the database, I restarted. It
is an Entourage problem, since it happens with either Safari or IE.

When I click on a send mail to link on a website, the dock moves slightly, as
if it is trying to open an application, then nothing happens. It used to work
just like it's supposed to - Entourage would open a new email message. I
have Entourage set as my default app.

I've run out of ideas, except reinstalling Panther, to get those fonts back,
but why would Entourage need all those Asian and Middle Eastern fonts? I
foolishly deleted them before I realized I could have just turned them off in
fontbook. Sigh - hasty me. I don't know that that is the problem, but there
seems to be a correlation.

The security update has caused various problems. Your mailto preference
probably just needs to be reset. See FAQ #4 for directions:

THANK YOU!! That fixed it - that is so ~lame~ that you can't set that in
system preferences any more - and I couldn't find a preference for it in
Safari, I had to open Mail, which I don't ever use, and set the preference for
Entourage from there. Weird. Anyway, it worked, and that is a great
website, so thank you!
