send link by e mail

Using Vista OS

With windows mail as the default I can send link by e mail (IE 7)
With Outlook as default NO MAIL IS Sent (NOTHING COMES UP)

It worked for a while and the last thing I can recall is an automatic
update.

Any Ideas?
