SEnd Object doesnt send a report to RTF properly

I have set up reports to be auto-emailed using SendObject. Sometimes it works
ok and the report appears in the email as a RTF attachment but more often
than not it appears as a XLS attachement. Why does this happen - when I have
specified for it to be sent in RTF format?
