Send & Receive 'Beep'

I know there is probably an easy answer to this but I just can't find it.

Every time Entourage checks for new messages, it emits a small 'beep' and it is driving me, and anyone near me, mad.

How do I get rid of this??

Many thanks.

How do I get rid of this??

Open Entourage preferences under Entourage in the Menu bar.
Select Notifications
Uncheck New Mail Sound and/or No mail sound

You might to uncheck some of the others too.

There doesn't seem to be an option there to get rid of the sound that is made when checking for mail. I don't wish to get rid of the new and sent mail sounds.

Is there anything else you can suggest?

There doesn't seem to be an option there to get rid of the sound that is made
when checking for mail. I don't wish to get rid of the new and sent mail
sounds.

If you click on the little sound icon it will play the sound. Select the one
that is annoying you and uncheck. I think it's the no mail sound.

I use custom sounds for my notifications.

I use Jolly's Play Sound with a rule to get customized sounds for certain
categories of mail. To me this is much more useful than the default sounds
that do not distinguish between important mail and spam.

See this page for using custom sounds with Entourage. You can even create
your own sounds or use computer voices to announce your mail. For example,
you could have the AppleScript say ³Mail from Dad². I use a combination of
sounds and words to announce.
