Send/receive checking unwanted accts

Entourage X on OS 10.2.8.

I have four accounts defined, three POP plus an Exchange IMAP server. The
Exchange server isn't ready for me yet, so I have deselected the box
"Include this account in my 'Send and Receive All' schedule."

Entourage Help says:
When you click Send & Receive All, only messages from accounts that
are included in your Send & Receive All schedule are received.

For good measure, I deselected "Automatically synchronize Inbox with the
Exchange server" under Mail/Advanced Receiving Options. I wanted to uncheck
"Synchronize all items to server" but it wouldn't let me - seems to need
server access to do that.

When I do "Send and Receive All" it quickly checks my POP accounts, then
works away for a while before giving me two consecutive messages "an error
occurred on the IMAP server" with explanation "A connection failure has
occurred (Error -23016)"

I am not surprised at the error, but I AM surprised that it is checking that
account at all. Have I missed something?

Thank you for clearly stating the version number :)

Are you sure it is checking mail? Have you possibly a message that has been
created with that account that is trying to get sent? The 'send & Receive
all' schedule tries to send ALL mail, whatever account it is from, and the
'include in send & receive all' setting does not affect this. Yes, it is
badly worded.

Check your outbox mail folder and see if there is a message in there that
you can either change the account of or delete.

Brilliant reasoning - alas, there is nothing in the outbox for that account
and never has been.

It has stopped doing it since I did a restart, so maybe it was trying to
help me by automatically retrying the failed connection - but it only did it
during send/receives! If so, it means that every time I do an unsuccessful
test I will have to restart!

Whoops. Today I restarted again, and once again Entourage X is checking the
IMAP account that is clearly marked NOT to be included in send/receive. Grr.

Go to Tools -> Schedules, and open your "Send & Receive All" schedule. In
the "Actions" list, there's probably an action for receiving mail from your
Exchange account. Select it and press the "Remove Action" button. Click OK
to finish.
