send receive in a continuous loop

my Entourage X seems to have the send receive button continuously
pushed and stuck in a continuous loop. How do I get out of this. it
has been there since upgrading to Panther 10.3

it is very annoying.

This is a new one for the books.

Try creating a new User in System Preferences and run Entourage from there.
If it works, then you know your preferences in your user's folder are
corrupted. Try trashing your User preferences files for Entourage.

Entourage X:

~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Entourage.plist


~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Entourage Preferences

I also suggest running Repair Permissions:

To use Repair Permissions:


Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.

Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions

Click on the icon for your boot volume.

Click the repair permissions button.


Don't run from CD as updates have a newer version of Repair Permissions.

Run Repair Permissions from the volume being repaired.

We deleted the preferences and ran the disk utility, but that didn't do it.
Turns out that somehow there was another item that was added in the
send & receive schedule that was causing the problem. We deleted it,
and it now works as expected. Go figure!
