Send-to-word stops after 21 slides

Office XP, with all updates installed.

I have a presentation of 45 slides with notes, fairly simple template (no
background graphics).

When I send to Word, the process always crashed around slide 23, and PPT to
throw an error - "Could not open Word object". It seems to be one
particular slide that does it - if I move the slide, then the process
continues to that slide. The slide in question has one graphic that's an
enhanced Windows metafile, but there are other slides in the deck with
WEMF's that get sent just fine.

Any ideas on troubleshooting?

Select the EMF, cut it, and choose Edit/Paste Special. Paste as WMF.

Worth a try, anyway. If WMF doesn't work, try PNG.
