Sender's name isn't correct?!

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I deal consistently with two close colleagues. Let's call them Roy and Jean. Jean is Roy's PA. When we used to run Exchange 2003 some time ago, she used to be able to send email from roy@. We recently moved to Exchange 2007, and we no longer have this arrangement in place. she is jean@ and he is roy@ Simple.

However, when I get email from Roy into Entourage, it shows the sender as:
'Jean Surname ([email protected])'

When I look at the same email in Outlook on my PC, it shows as:
'Roy Surname ([email protected])'

Everything is set up correctly on the Exchange server - this has to be a problem local to my mac/entourage (no-one else on our Exchange server sees this display problem)

The mac has NEVER received an email from Jean with the address roy@ - although obviously I have some stored on the exchange server. Both Roy and Jean are in my Contacts folder with their details correct. So I do not unsderstand how entourage sees the roy@ address as belonging to Jean?

However, when I start to type the address 'roy' and a list of suggestions pops up, there is Jean's name first in the list. Roy's name isn't there at all!

So - short question - where is entourage getting its information about who the address roy@ belongs to, and how can I edit it please!

It might seem like a minor inconvenience at one level, but its a real hindrance!
Thanks.

Thanks Michael, but if I'm understanding the feature you linked me too, this isn't the problem I'm seeing.

The article is clearly saying that the problem they're describing (which is about the recipient's name field, not the sender's name field) was caused by the fact that Entourage didn't find a matching address in the Exchange address book. But in my case the correct names (and addresses) ARE in the Exchange address book, but Entourage is still showing me incorrect sender's details. AND the correct information is also contained in my local address book. But still it appears incorrectly, but only in Entourage.
So unless I'm misunderstanding something, my problem persists...
Thanks for your attention.

Double-check your contact records for both of these folks.

Look in the Address Book, which is local to your computer and also look
in Contacts under your Exchange account. Both of these places are
"preferred" search locations before using entries from the GAL.

If everything there is correct then you may be seeing old entries in
your Most Recently Used (MRU) list. Have a look here for details about that:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/glossary/mru.html>

These locations are the only places that can cause the problem you're
describing. If everything is in order then we'll have to dig deeper.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for this Bill - it helped a lot, by explaining how Entourage processes address lists.
I found the offending entry. Not in my main Exchange contacts folder, but in an old sub-folder. So the wrong name wasn't showing up in the Address list but was being referenced by Entourage.
Thanks all for your help - much appreciated.
