Sending E-mail on Entourage

There are many times I can not send an email on Entourage as it say
looking for smtp. Sometimes it does work. If I restart my computer
it will then work. What is causing the send option to work sometimes
and not work others? How do I fix this problem?

What version of Entourage? And what type of account (POP, IMAP etc). Who is
the service provider, and are you trying to connect from different locations
with a powerbook?

I am having similar problems with my new MacBook Pro...

Using version 11.3.6 of Entourage and a "Charter" POP account from
home (wireless) everything works perfectly.

When I am away from home, on a different wireless system, I can
receive my email in Entourage without any problems, can access the
internet but cannot send email from Entourage??? If I log into my
"Charter" account from their website, I can send email thru their
webmailer.

Actually I've tried it on two different wireless systems and neither
would allow me to send email. I get a number of error messages
ranging from authentication errors to can't access the smtp to won't
allow connection.

I've talked to "Charter" to make sure my settings are correct, so I am
stuck!

Usually most ISPs will not allow you to send thru them when connected to the
Internet outside their system unless they have set up some kind of
authentication.

Well, I'm out on the road again and have tried the methods of
connecting in the Help Topic...

I still can't get the email to send from Entourage.

Anything else I could try?

I still think that your ISP does not allow smtp connections outside their
system. The only way I can send through my COX account is when I am at home
or at a friends house that has COX. Otherwise I have to use their webmail
connection when not at home.
