sending e-mail through Outlook certificate error messages

I am attempting to send e-mail using outlook. after composing and pressing send, a message says
Microsoft Outlook could not sign or encrypt this message because you have no certificates which can be used to send from the e-mail address "(e-mail address removed)".

What does this mean and how is it corrrected

Tools/Security....un tick add digital sig.
