Sending e-mail via website

The other day I went to the Today Show website; selected "Contact Us"
but nothing happened. This happens every time I try to select
contact on "any" website. I am unable to send the company an
e-mail in that manner. What is blocking me from doing this?

Can this block be overcome?

Suggestions please.

This should open your default email application. Does it try to open Mail
instead of Entourage?
