Sending / Receiving large attachments

Whenever I try to send anything over 50k as an attachment the people I send it to receive it at least 5 times, it is worse when sending to a large list of people but can also happen when just sending to one or two people

Also receiving any large files can take forever and sometimes I have to receive them direct from my ISP via webmail rather than get them into outlook

I am using a newish laptop with a 64k ISDN connection so surely I should be able to send receive large emails easily
