Sent emails go to Deleted Items folder

I am running 10.1.5 on a PowerBook G4. Everytime I send an email, the
copy goes to the Deleted Items folder instead of the Sent Items
folder. I have checked, unchecked and rechecked the "Save copies of
sent messages in the Sent Ittems folder" about five times, but it
still happens. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas?

I figured it out myself. I found that there is a box under the
Tools:Accounts:Account Settings that you can check that says "Save
sent messages in the server "Sent Items" folder instead of locally"
When I deselected this box, the sent emails began to save to the Sent
Items folder on my hard drive immediately, which is the way I had set
it up in the Mail & News Preferences:Compose tab for Entourage.
