Serial Number Verification Bug

I just moved my stuff from a desktop G4 to a new laptop G4 using
Tiger's built in synch program which works beautifully. The problem is,
now Office X thinks that the serial number is the same as my older
laptop's office installation, which it isn't. I have two full purchase
licenses, and I have verified that they are correct, meaning I have two
completely different serial numbers running on the two laptops. But it
will simply not let me run both at the same time. I have tried a fresh
install but it's just not happening.

Has anyone else experienced this, and did you find any work around?

Many thanks,
-Hatch

Tiger's Migration Assistant transfers a lot of things, and your Office
registration code is one of them, as it seems. And since you cannot have two
versions of Office with the same registration code running at the same time
(when both computers are connected through a network), Office will prevent
any attempt of doing so. In other words, though you have two valid
registration codes, you are currently using only one of them (because of the
Migration Assistant), and you're using that code twice.
You mentioned that you tried a fresh install; you didn't use the remove
tool, didn't you? If you did, it should have removed the PID number which is
generated when you enter your serial code for the first time. However,
there's no need to remove Office; simply following the instructions on this
website should do the trick:
http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/office/pid.html
So remove the PID on one of the laptops and when you are prompted to enter
your registration code, simply enter the one that is not being used at the
moment, and your problem should be solved.
