set default fonts in new message window

i'm setting up my outlook mailbox, after a reinstall.

the fonts in the new message window (as well as the reply & forward windows)
are different (larger) than they appear in the original message, or in the
resulting sent mail window, or in the resulting received mail (i.e.,messages
sent to
myself). all fonts except those in the "new" windows are as i set them.

also, when replying/forwarding plain text, text does not wrap to window size
unless set, EACH TIME A NEW REPLY/FORWARD WINDOW IS OPENED. there must be a
default setting somewhere??

anybody know how to reset this
