settings change in Outlook

The POP server setting does not hold in Outlook 2003. I
heard of this same problem in Outlook Express 6. We've
tried loading all updates. When Outlook is reopened the
server properties are not right and the communication
fails. Reenter the correct server name and all is well
until the next time.

To what does it change?

If localhost or 127.0.0.1 it is caused by your virusscanner. See the
documentation of your virusscanner on how you can disable this type
integration.
