setup new profile as solution...

Dan

hi there,

I again and again read that the solution to some problems is to setup a new
profile. I had to do this already several times (using several versions of
Outlook over the years). the error(s) always ceased to exist. unfortunately,
new (other) ones appeared...

question: is there an automatic (software?) way to create a new profile,
taking over the most (safe) settings from the existing (buggy?) profile?

my profile is pretty complex (scripts, signatures, many PST files, etc).
setting up a new profile manually is painful...

thanks for any pointer

Thanks R.

actually, the genie product (Genie Outlook Backup 6.0) does not allow
restoring into another profile. beside that, neat software. triggered by
your comment, I also found AFB Outlook Backup, which has a much simpler
interface, but allows restoring into other profiles as well. although, it
did not work with me.

luckily I have found in the meantime the solution to my problem (mentioned
by Susan Mosher related to creating new profiles, plus some own thinking).

I had that problem with "The messaging interface returned an unknown
problem" when I wanted to open a new appointment in calendar. I tried many
of those fix ideas on the web, including that one with the new profile
(which was why I wanted that backup/restore functionality).

finally the solution to my problem was pretty simple. just deleting the
FRMCACHE.DAT file and start Outlook again (that file is being recreated). I
guess that file was corrupted (don't ask me why). and if I wanted to open a
new appointment, it tried to get.. guess what.. the right form from the
cache ...

bingo!

thanks anyway
