Shading Cells depending on the data

Hi all,
I am trying to build a Workbook with (formula)..
when a text is entered in teh field the background should
change...

The use: I am maintaining the attendance of a couple of
guys here and we do not work on saturdays and Sundays.. so
on the Topmost row i have the days (of the Month) and the
on the Left Most Column i have the names of the guys..
Now.. If I have a weekend there, they two colums should be
in Gray and if I enter L that CELL should be in Yellow...

Can you help me with this.

Hi,

Choose that cell,Go to Format -> Conditional formatting.

Enter the condition that if cell value is equal to L (enter without any
quotes), then click on format , go to patterns tab and choose the yellow
colour.
