Shadowed text in groups etc - turn it off

I find the shadowed text used in the folder list and conversation
threading/grouping in Entourage Mac 2008 (and many other parts of the
suite) a bit annoying

Is there any way to change the format. say removing the shadowing?

The answer is no. As with most applications, these types of features are not
editable.

Last word I got from Microsoft is that at least the shadowing that right now occurs in e.g. mail headers is caused by the OS 10.5.2 update. They're working on a fix for this. If that will solve the 'older' annoyance as well, I'm not sure.
